Teen’s ‘Suspicious’ Death Sparks Police Search for Multiple People

Ohio police are searching for multiple individuals after a 16-year-old was found dead under “suspicious circumstances,” authorities said.
Trentin Isaac went missing in Mansfield on November 12. On Tuesday, the Mansfield Police Department (MPD) announced that a body, later identified as Isaac, had been discovered in Harrison County.
The body was taken to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office, authorities said. MPD is coordinating with state and local authorities, but “there are more questions than answers at this point,” according to the department.
“The family and community can be assured that the division will work diligently to not only answer these questions but also bring justice to the individuals who committed this act,” MPD said.
Officials have not identified any suspects at this time.
Investigators said they have received “numerous unverified tips” about social media posts and videos, and seek the public’s assistance in confirming them.
“The department urges anyone with information regarding potential videos, photographs, or social media content related to Trentin or the circumstances of his disappearance to come forward immediately,” MPD said.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact Mansfield Division of Police Detective Ronee Swisher at 419-755-9432.
A GoFundMe launched to raise money for Isaac’s funeral has collected over $2,500. The fundraiser describes him as “cherished by so many, including his parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends, and loved ones.”
“His warmth and presence touched everyone who knew him, and his passing has left an unimaginable void in all our lives,” organizer Tina Ransom added.
Isaac was described by officials as a 6-foot-2-inch white male weighing around 150 pounds.
MPD said it received a call about a body found in its jurisdiction. The county is about a two-hour drive from where Isaac was reported missing.
Harrison County Sheriff Ronald Myers told 3News that the body was found in the northwest area of the county.
In 2023, 17,405 children were reported missing in the state, according to the Ohio Missing Children Clearinghouse Report.
According to the report, 17,033 of them were found safe by year’s end. Five of the children were found dead.
“Local law enforcement is the first defense when a child goes missing, and Ohio’s sheriff’s offices and police departments do a fantastic job reuniting missing kids with their families,” Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said in a statement. “Although we celebrate a 98% reunification rate, one missing child is one too many.”
